IN SERVICE FIRE EXTINGUISHER TRAINING

OSHA 1910.157 says:
(g)

(1) Where the employer has provided portable fire extinguishers for employee use in the workplace, the employer shall also provide an educational program to familiarize employees with the general principles of fire extinguisher use and the hazards involved with incipient stage firefighting.
(2) The employer shall provide the education required in paragraph (g)(1) of this section upon initial employment and at least annually thereafter.
(3) The employer shall provide employees who have been designated to use firefighting equipment as part of an emergency action plan with training in the use of the appropriate equipment.
(4) The employer shall provide the training required in paragraph (g)(3) of this section upon initial assignment to the designated group of employees and at least annually thereafter.

What General Fire and Safety can offer you:
Let us train your employees on the proper method of handling fire extinguishers through our full service fire demo training program.  We bring all needed material, including a short video to watch before any hands on training is conducted.

Put your employees at ease with the knowledge that extinguishers are easy to operate and will not "jump and shake" when utilized.  Anyone can operate a fire extinguisher to include the children that we train during Fire Prevention Week at a local school in the Des Moines area.

Your employees learn about the classes of fire, the types of fire extinguishers that can and should be used, and receive the peace of mind that they can react appropriately in the event of a fire.

All we need to know is when you want to conduct the training, where it will be at, and how many people will participate.  We bring the fire extinguishers, demo pans (we start small controlled fires) and fuel to burn.  If you have the ability, we will show a short 15 min video that instructs them on what we will be doing and we will talk to them about it also.

Charges for fire training are as follows:

  1. Des Moines area fee to come out  $100.00, up to an hour (most demos take an hour or less)

  2. Additional costs include charges for each extinguisher actually used in training.

Out of town charges would be additional and depend on where the training would take place.
