The first UL-Listed photoluminescent exit sign was evaluated in accordance with Supplement SG of UL 924, Emergency Lighting and Power Equipment, issued July 11, 2001.   The UL Listings for this product are based on performance requirements in NFPA 101 (2000 edition). These requirements state that photoluminescent exit signs are to be continually illuminated while the building is occupied, with the illumination type and intensity to be in accordance with the Listing information. During normal, i.e., non-emergency power conditions, these exit signs function as externally illuminated exit signs and are subject to the 5-foot-candle minimum illumination requirement of NFPA 101. 

This sign was also evaluated to the requirements of the Observation Visibility Test Program. The EXIT legend of the signs was readable when viewed from a distance of 50 feet after being maintained in total darkness for 90 minutes, subsequent to being illuminated for 60 minutes by a fluorescent light source. The exit sign includes directional indicators that are discernible from 40 feet.
